Someone Like You || Adele

Most of the times when I listen to the break up songs of today’s generation, they will attempt to force the sadness and sorrow down your throat with excessive and overdone lines about how sorry and hurt they are. The thing that sets Someone Like You apart is that Adele isn’t speaking from sadness, she’s speaking from bitter acceptance. It’s quite possibly one of the saddest songs ever written because it’s about regret in it’s most pure, and hopeless state. She isn’t asking her lover to get back together, she’s begging him to at least hold on to their memories. We’ve all wanted someone who is out of our reach; whatever the circumstance. But few have to experience the pain of having something, losing it, and being left with nothing but the realization that the love we once cherished so is lost forever.
